Outfitter

Here's how it would work for a LifeWork skill builder.

A new LifeWork explorer joins the platform and sets up their profile. They upload career documents, take personality tests, connect to third party data sources for validation, and start scoping their next career moves. After a few days, the explorer has analyzed 10 jobs from various sources, and our custom models evaluate that the explorer has been looking at program management roles, but has no formal experience and is not PMP certified. Our system flags these as high value career development items, and suggests exploring those options immediately. 

The first thing our system does, is look to see if any outfitters have PMP coursework or certification pathways. Then, we identify the specific capabilities needed for the roles to ensure it meets the basic requirements for the explorer. We evaluate the program, the user and the growth plans all at once to provide the top 3 options to the explorer. The options will balance cost, time and quality to keep the explorer in the driver's seat. Most of these capabilities will be delivered by outfitters that will forge lasting trust and new relationships in the process.

How do I provide my services in your platform?

That is unique for each partner, but here are a few examples of some of our existing partners.

  • One of our partners has an interviewing practice capability. When on of our explorers is notified they are in the running for a role, they click their 'practice interviews' link and it passes their information to allow access and practice based on their linked LifeWork profile. We have a custom pricing agreement for the trial period, and after that period passes, each practice interview session will be priced based on the credits in the LifeWork platform. If a credit costs 10 cents and the service costs a dollar, the cost of the service would be 10 credits. We take the credits from the explorer, and add it to the outfitter. The outfitter can cash in the credits or set it up on a cycle.
  • Another partner provides personality testing services. This is an embedded feature to our profile development, and the first assessment is free, and it established the account. The assessment currently resides on their platform, but we are working on a way to host the service inside our platform to make the system more seamless, while still providing visibility to our outfitter.
  • Another partner is an accredited university. This university offers free micro learning credits to veterans, soldiers and their families, and paid programs for full degree and certificate programs for all. We are setting up this service so verified servicemembers can access the free content catalog, and the results of the courses will embed directly into their profiles es evidence of completion. This situation operates more like a referral, and when our users pay to participate in their services, LifeWork will use some of our referral credit to lower the price for our paying explorers, making the partnership drive revenue for us, and discounts for the explorers.

We are talking to resume builders, ratings platforms and people offering coaching and mentoring services right now, and each of them will have a slightly different way they want to engage.

Once we create an engagement, however, our goal will be to model them as templates for future partnerships, and rely on 6-7 models to keep consistency and reduce the burden on contracting systems.

Can I sign up now?

Short answer is YES!

However, due to the complex nature of our platform, it will not be something we can do 'right now', and we will need to schedule a few calls until we get some templates up and running and test your use case in the system.

  • We will set up your partner account and add any initial members to the account (email addresses for the invite)
  • Sign up for the https://lifework.live user account using that same email, and build a profile for yourself, and anyone in your org.
  • Free accounts are not available right now unless you have a code, but as we expand, our goal is to create a free version of the platform where everyone can engage (but without all of the analytics).
  • Once you have your accounts set up, we will work on an outfitter space where you will provide information for explorers to learn about and choose your services!
Are there promotional limitations?

We will have almost no restrictions on the amount and depth of any promotions, but we will have a disclaimer on the outfitter page that will be persistent for every user that makes it clear that the products on the outfitter page are made available by LifeWork, but we cannot guarantee the quality and capability of each product offered. 

We will operate similar to other third party marketplaces, where if our users have a dispute about your product or service, they should first try to resolve it with the outfitter, and if necessary, the outfitter and LifeWork will meet regularly on disputed charges to make sure our customers are being well cared for.

Who is this for?

If you have a product or service that is being used for skill building, career development, job seeking, or transitioning out of a job effectively with outplacement options then you are in the right place.

We want to make LifeWork more like a music streaming service, and less like the video streaming industry. What do we mean by that?

Ask yourself how many music streaming services you PAY FOR. Then ask the same question for video streaming services. 

The video streaming industry is catalog based, and people pay a monthly service to receive a specific catalog of options. The music streaming platforms are royalty and transaction based. Both have subscriptions, but music generally runs $10-$15 a month, where most video service are taking $20-$25 a month AND you have multiple. 

LifeWork engagements are transactions, not portfolios. We would like to have every outfitter think the same way, and price those transactions in a way that allow a single subscription that enables a regular payback to our outfitter partners. This is a simplified and consolidated user experience that lets user consume what they want, when they want it, without having to pay for full memberships in dozens of separate places.

As we mature, this will look like 'packages' that we will bundle different services to for higher monthly premiums, but also a broader range of service for things like job seeking (resume building, practice interviews) which differs from career building packages (mentorships & education).
